GENESIS
CHAPTER 7: END OF THE BEGINNING
AND
THE BEGINNING OF THE END
Introduction:
The Continuation of the Noah Story
1. And the Lord said unto Noah, “Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. 2. Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female; 3. Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth. 4. For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.” 5. And Noah did according unto all that the Lord commanded him. 6. And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of water was upon the earth.
We know from this paragraph that God commanded
Noah and his family to be saved in the Ark because God mad a covenant with Noah,
the first covenant mentioned in the Bible. Because of Noah’s righteousness he
and his family would be saved, along with the animals that God would send to him, to go in the ark. Remember this family was
the only one that was still dedicated to God in service, spiritually,
physically and mentally. They faithfully trusted in God and obeyed Him
without question
7 1. And Noah went in, and
his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of
the waters of the flood. 8. Of clean beast, and of beasts that are not clean,
and of fowls, and of everything that creepeth upon the earth, 9. There went in
two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had
commanded Noah. 10. And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the
flood were upon the earth.
I would imagine that Noah and the family had not seen rain before, since God had a canopy like vapor covering the earth to keep it like a terrarium. So with this event coming, knowing the count down of the days that they were to go into the ark must have very scary. Knowing that your family would be the only humans on the earth and that all peoples of the earth would be your descendants is a big, big responsibility. But Noah’s faith prevailed and he knew God would take care of them.

11.
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth
day of the month, the same day were all the fountains, of the great deep broken
up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12. And the rain was upon the earth
forty days and forty nights. 13. In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem,
and Ham, and Ja’pheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives
of his sons with them, into the ark; 14. They, and every beast after his kind,
and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth
upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of
every sort. 15. And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all
flesh, wherein is the breath of life. 16. And they that went in, went in male
and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him
in. 17. And the flood was forty days
upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift
up above the earth. 18. And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly
upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
19. And the
waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills that were
under the whole heaven were covered. 20. Fifteen cubits upwards did the water
prevail; and the mountains were covered. 21. And all flesh died that moved upon
the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping
thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: 22. All in whose nostrils
was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. 23. And every
living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man,
and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were
destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with
him in the ark. 24. And the waters prevailed upon the earth and hundred and
fifty days.
In this
paragraph we find out that Noah is 600 years old. (Not knowing which calendar
they were using we cannot pin point exactly when this even took place even
though the Lord gives us the exact month and day) After everyone was in the ark
God shut the door. This signifies God’s finality in Salvation and judgement. Here we are told that did it not only rain but
the waters of the deep opened up which made the flood go even higher. Our
oceans today are deep but below the earth at that time other waters flowed that the population did not know about. Even today if we dig deep enough we hit water. So this flood really did happen. Some may think that it was only in that part of the land where Noah lived. If that were so the water would have spread to the lowest place on the earth and the flood waters would not have covered the tops of all the mountains by 270 feet, as it states in the above verses 19 and 20. Also the people would have had a place to migrate to as well as the animals to get away from the waters. They did not, so every living thing died. To make sure there were no survivors except who was in the ark, the water stayed on the earth for 150 days.

God hates sin, and He did not want any of those sinful and perverse people to enter into the new population on the new cleansed earth.
God loves righteousness and He rewards the
heart that is true to Him. People did not believe Noah when he told them about
the flood coming, that they should repent of their sinful ways. They laughed at
him and made jokes and scorned him, but he continued as God commanded him to
do. Noah faced a whole world of unbelievers who did not believe God would
punish the sin of that world. Much like a parent who is trying to instruct or command
a child to do something and that child is very strong willed……there is a point
that that parent stops communicating and started acting on the terms of
punishment, for those people it was death. We today have a choice, we have God’s
word to warn us of the consequences, if we turn our backs on God and
serve Satan.
He has told us He will be back soon, He is preparing a place for us for our eternal home. Only, which place will you spend eternity in? With Jesus and the Father in Heaven or with Satan (Lucifer) in Hell? You have free will, you can choose, please do it today, we are not promised tomorrow. Just pray and talk to God, ask Him for forgiveness for your sins, and to come and live in your heart. It’s that easy, but you have to mean it in your heart. God knows every heart as we learn in chapter one as Cain brought forth his offering to God, it was with a selfish heart and refused, where Abels offering was with a pure sincere heart and accepted and blessed. God has a plan for you and it is so much better than any plan you can make for yourself. I will be praying for you.
The Road to Salvation (KJV)
Romans 3: 23, 24 “For all
have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by His
grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 5:8 “But God commended
His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 3:15 “For God so loved
the world That He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
1 John 4:9”In this was
manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten
Son into the world that we might live through Him.”
John 6: 47, 48 “Verily,
verily, I say unto you He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life.”
Romans 10:9 – 14 “That if
thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine
heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with
the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on Him shall
not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek;
for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14. How then
shall they call on him in whom they have not believed: and how shall they
believe in him of whom they have not heard: and how shall they hear without a
preacher?”
II Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed
away; behold, all things are become new.”
If you are not saved, I pray you will
accept Christ as your Savior to day. We are not promised another minute on this
earth. We are but on a journey, passing though this world to the next, and you
have a choice of where you will spend eternity. I pray you choose to spend it
in Heaven with the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit and all those who
believe that Jesus is the Son of God and paid our sin debt for us.
