CHAPTER 2: TRUSTING GOD
1. Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2. The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against His anointed saying, 3" Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us".
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. (an object of ridicule) 5 Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure.
God is a patient God and long-suffering because He does not wish for any to perish in hell. But there is a limit to that long-suffering, much like a parent will only take so much sass for a child and then they put down the law and punish them for their behavior whether it be a restriction or actually spanking them. So God also has his limits to His patience. That is why it is so important to submit your will to God's and live by the guide lines that He has set forth for us over the ages. Our life here on earth is so short compared to eternity.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion (Luke 1:32)
The author here, inspired by God, is speaking of God sending Jesus to earth to be sacrificed for man kinds sin debt.
7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, "Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee, 8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for they possession. 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel"
God is Jesus Father but He is also Jesus Lord in whom he puts His trust. Jesus acted upon His Fathers instructions and promise, when he came down to earth and became a human form. These verses also describe how Jesus will rule and guide ,his chosen, in spirit. For a person to see that they need Jesus's help to get to heaven to live eternally, they first must be dealt with sometimes with a hard hand which is what is meant by the rod of iron. Firm and consistent. Secondly the dashing in pieces like a potter's vessel means that if we do not respond to Jesus's calling, than if necessary, He will have to take us to a point where we see that we need Him and will call on Him for help. For some that can be down in a very dark place, others not so much. It depends on the will of the person. How stubborn we are to think that we can do all thinks by ourselves. When Jesus has said to give all our cares to Him and He will take care of them. He is there to help us in our daily lives. We do not have to live this life with all its temptations and frustrations alone. Jesus is working in each persons life daily, hourly, ever minute to bring that person closer to Him. How long it takes some people to except that help is amazing to me.
10" Be wise now therefore , O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him."
These verses are a warning to those that are in power over the people. They should serve with "fear and rejoice with trembling". For He is a God to be praised and worshiped. Jesus gave his life, something very precious to God, to pay for our sins so that we could live in heaven for eternity and not in the torment of hell. He is all powerful and will use that power when necessary as He did with Sodom and Gomorrah, as He did with the earth when it was so full of sin that the people for got about God, and thought of Him as a myth, so he cleaned the earth of them and saved only that one family in all the earth that believed in Him. Noah and his family followed God's word and believed in His power and God protected them and rejoiced in them and blessed them. At the end of this chapter it tells us that "Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him".
Lord I pray for anyone who has not trusted you as their savior. I pray they will not have to be taken down into the depth of despair before they see their need for you. How much longer will God tolerate the killing of innocent babies by the mothers wishes not to be bothered with them. How long will God tolerate man thinking that he knows better than God how to manage this world and the rules of society. We are looking more and more like Sodom and Gomorrah and the world of Noah before they were delt with by God. Our time is coming soon. I pray that they will accept you today as our time on this earth is soon coming to an end. This I ask in Jesus Holy name. Amen.
