GENESIS CHAPTER 1: THE BEGINNING

Introduction:

The Bible has sixty-six books in it. Thirty-nine Old Testament books, and twenty-seven New Testament books. If the publishers of the Bible in the beginning were to put all the books that were written about God and Jesus, the earth and its peoples it would just be tremendously huge. So they had to narrow it down to the best books that would best tell the story.  The first book is Genesis. The definition according to any dictionary tells us it comes from a Hebrew word Bereshit, meaning “in the beginning”. (Encyclopedia Botanica, Google app. 2016) This book gives a look at the world’s primeval history which includes the Creation, the First Family, Noah and the Flood. The Tower of Babel and the patriarchal history of Abraham and his descendants.

Chapter 1

          1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God move upon the face of the waters. 3. And God said, “Let there be light”: and there was light. 4. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5. And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Now the question arises “How do we know this is what happened and how did it get recorded?” To answer the latter first, we will see that God talked with Adam and Eve after they were created. He enjoyed talking and spending time with them and must have explained many things to Adam. Information about his environment must have been one of them. To answer the first part of the question- I believe in God and that with Him all things are possible, excluding nothing. Then I conclude that the word passed down through generations and then recorded  in the Bible is Gods’ words sent through man to glorify God. To help man understand God’s love for us.

                    6. And God said,” Let there be firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 7. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

As I read this I can’t help but think of all those scientist who keep looking for the beginning of life. When God made all things- he did it with a plan, a blue print of each and everything. A recipe of how it was to be made. Not a mishap such as the Big Bang Theory. Our planet and our bodies are made so complexly it only leads to the conclusion that we were designed in a wonderful and marvelous way by a loving creator.

             9. And God said, “Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called He Seas: and God saw that it was good. 11. And God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth”: and it was so. 12. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 13. And the evening and the morning were the third day.

I am truly thankful for a creator that loves us all so much, that He would take care of every detail, to make sure that on the birth of the human race, that our needs were already met. Much like a family expecting a new addition to the family, they get the room ready, clothing and the necessities for the care of the new child, like our father did for Adam and Eve from the very first day.
 14. And God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15. And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth”: and it was so. 16. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth 18. And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.  19. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
What a mystery our Sun and Moon are to some of us. How they work, how they got there, what are they made of? For the others of us- we just trust in Gods’ word. He made them for our benefit, to keep us warm and to give us light, both day and night. Being a parent I am very aware of the needs of my children. What they need, how to get it to them, what makes them comfortable. God did that as well for us, because He first loved us before we knew of Him
20. And God said, “Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creatures that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven”.
 21. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kinds, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
 22. And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.” 23. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

I cannot imagine the vastness of God’s imagination and color pallet. When I look at some of the animal and fishes He created for us.  Not even one third of the Sea is explored, and what other wonderfully magnificent creatures have we not yet discovered that He has made
  24. And God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping things, and beast of the earth after his kind”: and it was so.
 25. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and everything that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

God has a plan for each and every creature, and an environment for them to thrive in.If perhaps an animal is moved from its natural habitat to another, the balance of nature is thrown off. Its counter measure that keeps that species in check is not there and they multiple quickly such as the frog problem that accrued.
Or like the killer bees moving across the world. God’s plan is set perfect from the beginning and we humans seem to mess it up all the time. The anaconda and caiman that have been kept as pets then let go into a different echo system than they were created for have cause environmental problems that must be address and fixed.. These are a few of mans mismanagement of Gods' creations.

  26. And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth".
   27. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. 28. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”29. And God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat”: and it was so
31. And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

In these last verses of this chapter God is talking to Adam and telling him what he is able to eat, he also explains what the animal will be eating. Since they were to be grazers Adam had no fear that the animals would eat or hurt him. So, I would imagine they made awesome play mates. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful thing to be able to play with tigers and such and not be a bit afraid that you would get hurt?

Thank you Lord for all your Blessings  .

The Road to Salvation (KJV)

Romans 3: 23, 24 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

Romans 5:8 “But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

John 3:15 “For God so loved the world That He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

1 John 4:9”In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him.”

John 6: 47, 48 “Verily, verily, I say unto you He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.  I am that bread of life.”

Romans 10:9 – 14 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek; for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed: and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard: and how shall they hear without a preacher?”

II Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

If you are not saved, I pray you will accept Christ as your Savior to day. We are not promised another minute on this earth. We are but on a journey, passing though this world to the next, and you have a choice of where you will spend eternity. I pray you choose to spend it in Heaven with the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit and all those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God and paid our sin debt for us.
