GENESIS CHAPTER 2: The Beginning of the Generations

Introduction
This chapter is a recap of chapter one mostly, it also details more of  the Garden of Eden.

1. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which he had made. 3. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it. Because that in it He had rested from all his work which God created and made.

This paragraph gives us the reason why it is necessary for us to rest on the seventh day of the week. Most people these days think that the weekend is for recreation then when Monday rolls around and they are back at work they are still tired and dread the start of the new week. In Gods’ wisdom he knows that we need to rest physically, mentally and spiritually for the health and well-being of our unique persons

4. These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, 5. And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. 6. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. 7. And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

These verses of this paragraph recaps chapter 1, by telling us the history of our world.did you every feel the ground getting wet but is=t is not raining, we call this "dew", could this be a little of what God was talking about.? It also tells us that God gave man the breath of life, a living soul. Life is very precious born or unborn.

8. And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom He had formed. 9. And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 10. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

 11. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Hav’-i-lah, where there is gold; 12. And the gold of the land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. 13. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. 14. And the name of the third river is Hid’-de-kel; that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

 15. And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

The Garden in the eastern part of Eden was a special place. Instead of the beautiful trees and flowers spread out all over the Earth they were brought into one place, much like we make a garden in our back yard. We choose the trees and shrubs and flowers we want to display to make it a special place, one that pleases us to look at and enjoy. God did this also for Adam. He provided a watering system whereby the garden could be maintained and all the animals as well as Adam. Because Adam was to be the caretaker of the garden. Here God also tells Adam which trees he may eat from and gives him a command not to eat from the tree of life or the tree of knowledge of good and evil

18. And the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him". 19. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature that was the name thereof. 20. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

  21. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22. And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23. And Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

By Adams words here in this paragraph, God had given him much wisdom and knowledge from the beginning. God’s delight in watching Adam name the animals must have been so much as we would feel when we see our children make achievements as they grow. Adam also makes the command on marriage that we have practiced since Eve was created. That is until the twenty-first century. When man has decided he is more intelligent than God and started changing the natural order of things. (Just my opinion)

Gods’ blessings are so numerous, and His righteous judgments are justified on those who turn their backs on His laws. I saw a saying on Facebook not to long ago I am not sure who said it but the jest of it was, “I would rather live and believe in God and go to heaven and find out it is true, than not to live or believe in God and go to heaven and find out that I was wrong.” This is a good start in thinking of where you will spend eternity, because there is an afterlife and you have a choice where and how you want to spend it. This life here on Earth right now is the chance to make that choice. We don’t know if we have a tomorrow, we do not know how many days we are allowed to be on this earth, so a decision time is critical. I will be praying for you.

The Road to Salvation (KJV)

Romans 3: 23, 24 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

Romans 5:8 “But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

John 3:15 “For God so loved the world That He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

1 John 4:9”In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him.”

John 6: 47, 48 “Verily, verily, I say unto you He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.  I am that bread of life.”

Romans 10:9 – 14 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek; for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed: and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard: and how shall they hear without a preacher?”

II Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

If you are not saved, I pray you will accept Christ as your Savior to day. We are not promised another minute on this earth. We are but on a journey, passing though this world to the next, and you have a choice of where you will spend eternity. I pray you choose to spend it in Heaven with the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit and all those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God and paid our sin debt for us.
